A year sounds like plenty of time, and it is, as long as the big decisions happen in the right order. Here is how we pace it with our couples.
Months 12 to 9: foundations
Set the budget, draft the guest list, choose a date and secure the venue. These choices shape every other decision, so give them room.
Months 8 to 4: the details
Book the caterer, photographer, florist and music. Order stationery, choose attire and plan the guest experience, from accommodation to transport.
Plan backwards from the day. Every deadline protects your peace of mind.
The final three months
Confirm numbers, finalise the run sheet and rehearse the ceremony. By now your planner should be handling the small stuff so you can enjoy the build-up.
